Getting Ready for Your Photo Shoot: Studio

STUDIO
  • Change of outfits to give you a couple of options to choose from. You may not need to change at all but it is good to have a couple of options.
  • Try and bring a mixture of colours. For example you don't want to have all black shirts because you will blend in too much with the black backdrop, except for newborn shots. A black shirt or long sleeve black shirt it preferred for newborn shots.
  • Ladies bring a pair of high heels. They give you great posture and are slimming too.
  • Feel free to bring any accessories like jackets, jewellery, sunnies, and glasses.
  • If you have something special that you're wanting in the photo, bring it along. Items could include your favourite sports ball, musical instrument, sentimental items, and microphone if you like singing things like that.
  • Avoid skin colour clothing
  • White shirt with denim bottoms is always a classic look

Getting Ready for Your Photo Shoot: Men

MEN
  • Clean shaven, or make sure facial hair is groomed. Best to have your haircut 1 week before your photo shoot.
  • Clean hands & fingernails for newborn/baby shots

Getting Ready for Your Photo Shoot: Women

WOMEN
  • No need to go too fancy with your hair unless you are having a Glamour shoot done. You don't want to look over the top. Natural is nice. Remember to shave appropriate area's depending on what sort of shoot you are having done.
  • If you are getting your hair cut and coloured try have it done a couple of days before so that the colour can settle a little, preferably a week.
  • Make sure that your nails are clean or your acrylics are freshly done especially when getting newborn photos done because a close up of your hand will usually be one of the photos taken.
  • Keep in mind the underwear that you are wearing on the day. Ask yourself, will you need a strapless bra? Will you need no bra? Matching/special colours? Strapless or no bra for topless shots. The reason for this is to try and minimize your bra straps when having shoots like couples, newborn, skin on skin type shots.
  • Have your hair and make-up equipment available for quick touch-ups if needed
  • Hair & Make-up can be arranged, for a small fee, by a professional on the day of the shoot if needed. Just let us know if you want this service.

Getting Ready for Your Photo Shoot: Couples, Families & Groups

COUPLES, FAMILIES & GROUPS
  • Coordinate your clothing in both style and colour tone.  Contrasting styles or colours create visual confusion, and will detract from other members of the family. You want to create a harmonious image.
  •  If you are getting you family portratis on the beach a classic look is everyone wearing white shirts and jeans, or whits shirts and khaki pants.
  • A couple of things to keep in mind so that everyone isn't all wearing the same style white shirt or full length jeans is:
  • Females/Girls ccould wear a white dress,  if there are a few females in the family mix up the style of shirt.
  • Males/Boys mix up the style of shirt and length of pants.  For the guys a nice button up loose fitting shirt always looks good on the beach.
  • As for footwear for the beach shoot, you can either get photos done in bare feet, or you can all wear the same coloured thongs.

Getting Ready for Your Photo Shoot: Baby & Newborn

BABY / NEWBORN
  • Shooting newborns can be very unpredictable so prepare to be here a little longer than normal. There is no extra cost for this so don't worry if you baby is not settled on the day.
  • For some reason when you get here and your baby is not co-operating, or is very unsettled, then we will happily re-book for another day without any re-booking fees.
  • If you think that your baby is getting sick or he / she is out of their normal routine before you booked session and you need to reschedule for another day we will be happy to re-book another day at no extra cost.
  • The best thing to do to prepare your baby is to get them to have a sleep before you arrive, including the car ride. This way they will be ready for a feed when you get here which will hopefully get things off to a good start. Keep in mind the next point. If you have any questions please give us a call.
  • The best time for newborn shots is in the first 4-5 weeks. This way we can get some artistic newborn style shots with them sleeping, wrapped up, or using some props etc. The older they get the more energetic they start to become which means they will be moving around a lot more.
  • At around 12 weeks they are starting to smile a little more so you won't get that special sleeping shot but you will get that magical little smile that appears from time to time.
  • Bring extra food! A full baby is easier to work with than a hungry one.
  • Extra clothes are advisable in case there are a few accidents. Same thing applies to the parents for this one, in case there is an accident on you.
  • Parent should bring or wear a plain black shirt or long sleeve black shirt especially for newborn photos. This way you will blend into the black background when holding the baby and so that there are no visible clothes that will detract you from the main subject of the photo – your baby.

Canvas Prints

Q - How do you print your Canvas prints?
A - We print your canvas prints on the latest in high resolution large format printers. A recent breakthrough in technology has allowed us to bring you long lasting, vibrant, photo quality images that are fade resistant for over 50 years, if looked after properly.

Q - What type of Canvas do you use?
A - We can print on cotton or poly-cotton. We have a plain cotton canvas and three poly-cotton finishes, depending on your requirements. We believe you get the brightest and natural finish with the poly-cotton finish. Poly-cotton is cotton based with a polyester coating that is a vibrant white finish.

Q - How long do the inks last on the Canvas Prints?
A - At this stage the inks have been lab tested to around 75 years, provided they are not subjected to direct ultra violet light, so you will get a nice long life from the prints if they are kept out of direct sunlight and cared for properly.

Q - How are the Canvas Prints mounted?
A - The canvas is stretched onto high quality 38mm wood frames.

Q - How do you care for your Canvas Prints (clean them)?
A - Just treat your canvas like any fine art piece. Simply run a duster over them once a month and that should take any dust off the front and top of the print.  If you have a mark on the canvas print from a moth or something similar you can use a soft white cloth that has been dampened in water and rub very gently over the area affected.  This method helps remove light marks that have not been embedded in the canvas fabric.  Please note , we give no warranties on this should you rub too hard and the pigment comes off or cracks.
